Shahed Bird!

Privacy Policy

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

This policy explains what information the Shahed Bird game (“the game”) and this website, shahedbird.com, collect, why, and the choices you have. Shahed Bird is made by Paroaria LLC (“we”, “us”). It applies to the game on iPhone and, when it launches, on Android.

The short version

  • No accounts. The game has no sign-up or login. We never ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or location.
  • Your progress stays on your phone. Your best score, settings, missions and unlocked birds are saved on your device and never uploaded to us.
  • Anonymous gameplay stats. We use TelemetryDeck to count things like runs played and scores. It is anonymous by design and receives no personal data from the game.
  • One banner ad. A Google AdMob banner appears on the game-over screen only. Google and its advertising partners collect device and ad data to show and measure ads.
  • You choose in Europe. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your permission before your data is used for personalized ads.
  • No tracking prompt on iPhone. The iPhone app never asks for permission to track you, so neither the game nor Google can read your iPhone's advertising identifier.

1. Who we are

Shahed Bird is made by Paroaria LLC. For data protection laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Paroaria LLC is the controller responsible for the processing described in this policy, except where we explain that a partner (TelemetryDeck or Google) decides for itself how it uses data.

2. Information saved on your device

To remember your progress, the game saves a small file in its own private storage on your phone. It contains:

  • your best score, how far your best run got, how many runs you've played and how many cats you've bonked in total;
  • the missions you've completed (which earn the stars that unlock birds) and the bird you've picked;
  • your sound, music and haptics (vibration) settings;
  • which tutorial tips you've seen, and whether a laughing cat is waiting for your revenge.

This file is never sent to us. The game has no account system, and we don't run a server that receives it. Deleting the game deletes it.

If you back up your phone (for example with iCloud Backup or Google's Android backup), the backup may include this file along with your other app data. Those backups are handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy terms, and we can't access them.

3. Gameplay analytics (TelemetryDeck)

We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service run by TelemetryDeck GmbH in Germany, to understand how the game is played: how long runs last, where players crash, which missions are too hard. That lets us tune the difficulty and fix problems.

What the game sends

When something happens in the game, it sends TelemetryDeck a short, anonymous “signal” describing it:

  • a run ending: your score and its score range, whether you hit the ground or a tower, how many seconds the run lasted, how far you got, and how many cats, slingshots, FEVERs, shattered towers, TNT crates and gates it included, whether it was a new best and which medal you earned, plus the run number, whether you started it from the title screen or with Retry, whether it was a tutorial run, and which bird you flew;
  • your best score passing 25, 50, 100 or 200 for the first time;
  • a mission completed, a bird unlocked or a tutorial tip shown, with its name;
  • sound, music or haptics being switched on or off.

TelemetryDeck's software also sends its own signal when a session starts, so we can count sessions and see how many players come back. The game doesn't send any information about ads to TelemetryDeck.

What TelemetryDeck adds

TelemetryDeck's software adds technical details about the app and device to each signal, such as the app version and build, the device model, the operating system version, the screen size, your language, region and time zone settings, some accessibility settings (like bold text or reduced motion), whether the app came from the App Store or TestFlight, and a random session ID.

Why it's anonymous

The game doesn't send your name, email address, advertising identifier or location to TelemetryDeck. Each installation is represented by an anonymous identifier. TelemetryDeck's software takes an identifier for the installation (on iPhone it may use Apple's “identifier for vendor”, otherwise a random one), then salts and hashes it on your device before anything is sent. TelemetryDeck salts and hashes it again on its servers. Neither we nor TelemetryDeck can turn the result back into the original identifier or link it to you.

TelemetryDeck states that it never stores IP addresses: not in its database, in log files or anywhere else. It hosts its data in the EU (Germany and the Netherlands).

We only see the results as totals and charts, such as “how many players have reached 100?”. We don't use this data for advertising, and we don't sell it.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The game is supported by advertising. There is one ad: a banner at the bottom of the game-over screen. There are no ads during play or on the title or pause screens, and no video or full-screen ads. The banner is served by Google AdMob, through Google's Mobile Ads software (SDK) built into the game. AdMob is run by Google LLC in the United States and its affiliates. Google is an independent controller of the data it collects through AdMob: it decides how that data is used, under its own Privacy Policy.

When the game starts, it first checks whether you need to see Google's consent message (see Your choices below). Then it starts Google's ad software, so the banner is ready for your first game over. From then on Google may collect information from your device, even before you see an ad.

What Google may collect

According to Google's data disclosures for its Mobile Ads SDK (for the App Store and for Google Play), this can include:

  • Your IP address, which may be used to estimate your device's general location, such as your country or city. The game doesn't ask for or use your device's precise location.
  • Device identifiers. On iPhone, the game never asks for permission to track, so Google can't read your advertising identifier (IDFA). It may use identifiers that are limited to this app or its developer, such as Apple's identifier for vendor. On Android: the advertising ID (unless you've deleted it), the app set ID and, if applicable, other identifiers related to accounts signed in on the device.
  • App and ad activity: the name of the app, app launches, taps and other interactions, and the ads you've seen.
  • Diagnostics: crash logs and performance data, such as how long the app takes to launch, how often it freezes and how much energy it uses.

Google says this data is encrypted in transit.

Why

Google uses this information to deliver, maintain and improve its services and develop new ones, choose and show the banner, limit how often you see the same ad, measure how ads perform, pay us, and protect against fraud and abuse. If ad personalization is allowed, Google also uses it to personalize the ads you see, in this game and on other apps and sites that use Google's ad services. If ad personalization is off, Google says it won't use your information to build an ad profile or personalize your ads. Ads may still be based on the app you're using or your general location, and your information can still be used to measure ads and fight fraud. Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and on its advertising page.

Who else receives it

Advertisers and other ad technology companies can bid through Google's ad platforms to show the banner. Depending on your choices and the law where you live, Google may share information such as your IP address and device identifiers with them, for example with the ad technology providers named in Google's consent message. On iPhone, advertisers may also use Apple's SKAdNetwork, which measures whether an ad led to an app install without identifying you.

Your choices

  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: when you first open the game, Google's consent message (from Google's User Messaging Platform) asks whether you agree to Google and its ad partners storing and using information on your device for advertising, including personalized ads. You can agree, refuse, or choose purpose by purpose and partner by partner. If you refuse, you'll still see a banner, but it won't be personalized using your data. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the PRIVACY button on the game's title screen (choose “Ad Privacy Choices”). Deleting and reinstalling the game also clears your choice, and the message appears again on the next launch.
  • Google's ad settings: in My Ad Center you can turn off ad personalization for your Google Account, see why you're shown ads, and block advertisers.
  • On iPhone: the game never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, so your advertising identifier stays unavailable to it. You can also turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track” in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking (Apple's guide).
  • On Android: the advertising ID may be used to personalize and measure ads unless you opt out. You can reset or delete it in your phone's settings, usually under Settings › Privacy › Ads or Settings › Google › Ads. On older versions, turn on “Opt out of Ads Personalization” (Google's guide).
  • US state privacy laws: some US state laws treat using data for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. To opt out, turn off ad personalization in My Ad Center, delete your Android advertising ID, or contact us and we'll help.

5. This website

shahedbird.com is a simple static website. It doesn't use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or ads, and its fonts are hosted on the site itself, so your browser doesn't contact anyone else. Like any website, the company that hosts it processes your IP address and basic request details (such as your browser type and the page you asked for) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, and may keep short-lived server logs.

6. If you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, for example your device model in a bug report. We use it only to reply and help you.

  • Saving your progress on your device: it's needed to provide the game you chose to play, and it stays on your device.
  • Anonymous analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game. The data is anonymized, but we handle it carefully anyway.
  • Advertising: your consent, which you give or refuse in Google's consent message. Google may rely on its legitimate interests for some processing, such as preventing fraud and measuring ads, as its Privacy Policy explains.
  • Emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.

8. Children

Shahed Bird is a general-audience game. It is not directed at children under 13, or, in the EEA and the UK, at children under the age at which they can agree to the use of their data on their own (between 13 and 16, depending on the country). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us at info@paroaria.ai and we'll delete it.

9. How long data is kept

  • Saved game: on your device until you delete the game or clear its data.
  • Analytics: anonymous signals are kept in TelemetryDeck for [ANALYTICS RETENTION PERIOD].
  • Advertising: Google keeps different kinds of data for different periods. For example, it says it anonymizes advertising data in server logs by removing part of the IP address after 9 months and cookie information after 18 months (How Google retains data). Its ad partners follow their own policies.
  • Emails: for as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than [EMAIL RETENTION PERIOD].

10. Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and the UK, or under US state laws such as California's), you may have the right to:

  • know about and get a copy of the personal information held about you, in a portable format;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • object to or restrict how it's used, and withdraw your consent at any time;
  • opt out of targeted advertising and of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information;
  • not be treated differently for using these rights;
  • complain to your local data protection authority.

How to use them:

  • Your saved game is only on your device. To erase it, delete the game. On Android you can also clear its data in Settings › Apps › Shahed Bird › Storage.
  • Analytics are anonymous, so there's nothing that ties a player's data to them. That means we can't find, hand over or delete one person's analytics data.
  • Advertising: use the choices in section 4. For data Google holds, Google's Privacy Policy explains how to make a request to Google.
  • Anything else, or if you're not sure, email us at info@paroaria.ai. We'll reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm that the request is yours. Where the law allows, someone you authorize can make a request for you.

11. International transfers

TelemetryDeck processes analytics data in the EU. Google is based in the United States, and it and its ad partners may process data in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. Google says it complies with the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks and the UK Extension, and also relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (Google's data transfer frameworks).

12. Security

Your saved progress never leaves your device. What the game sends to TelemetryDeck and Google travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the information we handle to a minimum.

13. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when the game or our partners change how information is handled, for example if we add another ad network. We'll change the effective date at the top, and for significant changes we'll also give notice in the game's release notes or on this website.
